The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences committee honorably recognizes the acceptance of global filmmakers with the elimination of the Best Foreign Film to instead award the Best International Film

The foreign film category isn’t the only one undergoing surface changes; the Academy also has changes in the Animated Feature Category, Hair and Makeup, and Short Film considerations.

In the Animated Feature category the Academy normally requires eight eligible animated features, that is no longer a requirement due to the large amount of features released every year.

When it comes to the artistry of Makeup and Hairstyling three nominations just isn’t enough. Instead, the Academy has approved the acceptance of five nominations.

The rules are reviewed annually by branch and commitee while the Board of Govenors makes the final descion to any changes. The 92nd Oscars will see the new changes on Sunday, Feburary 9, 2020 which is broadcast to 225 countries and territories worldwide.
