For SS15, French designer Vanessa Bruno went easy, breezy, lemon-squeezy.
On this eve of the GREATEST SNOWSTORM IN THE HISTORY OF EVER, we’re ignoring Mother Nature’s wrath and perusing spring clothes instead; better to remind us that this weather is fleeting and that warm temps are on the way. And right now, we’re looking to Vanessa Bruno to be our white knight.
For SS15, Bruno’s collection features the designer’s trademark boy-meets-girl aesthetic but in a way that is even more mellow than usual. The color-palette is tranquil — white, khaki, indigo blues. Piece-work denim pieces have an updated 70s sensibility that looks more now than then. Trousers and shorts are relaxed, jackets are unfussy, including one really sharp tan, four-button topper with contrasting pockets. Also a favorite: The taupe, brushed twill belted dress that hints at army surplus without going overboard. Patterns are few and far between, an oversized plaid here, a shirting stripe there. Instead, Bruno opts for texture, like a delicately embroidered blouse and those standout floral mini-skirts — covered with irresistible, hand-crafted geraniums, they’ve got us asking, ‘Juno, who?’
